- AUTHENTIC IRISH: The Irish Shillelagh Walking Stick is a beautiful product with a rich history. The name comes from the Shillelagh Forest in County Wicklow, where it originated historically. It has evolved to become a sturdy, decorative walking stick that is lightweight and a symbol of distinction. Crafted by our maker-partner in County Roscommon, Ireland.
- QUALITY MATERIALS: Blackthorn is a resilient and heavy wood that has been used throughout history to make sturdy canes. Blackthorn wood is very rare in Ireland, so craftsmen visit their secret locations in the dark. Like truffles or morels, blackthorn wood is harvested once per year. Because blackthorn wood is created in nature, no two sticks are exactly the same. The black on shaft of the Shillelagh walking stick is a protective coat of wood preserver paint to preserve the wood.
- TIMELESS STYLE: Also known as the Shillelagh, the Irish blackthorn walking stick has a rustic texture and is sealed to protect the wood. Our Irish walking sticks are fashioned to be approximately 36" tall from the bottom of the copper ferrule to the top of the handle, and about 1" in diameter. These sticks come from nature, so every stick and every handle is different.
- PERFECT GIFT: This sturdy Shillelagh is the perfect distinguished gift for someone who loves decorative Irish goods. While it can be used as a walking stick, this is not a medical device, and is intended primarily for those who want a beautiful, ornamental stick made from natural Irish blackthorn wood.

Our Irish walking sticks are fashioned to be approximately 36" tall from the bottom of the copper ferrule to the top of the handle, and about 1" in diameter. It's a beautiful product, unique and rich with tradition. The black on shaft of the Shillelagh walking stick is a protective coat of wood preserver paint to preserve the wood. You'll be proud to show off this Irish Shillelagh Walking Stick. May the luck of the Irish always be at hand! Please keep in mind that these sticks are natural - not man made - so there will be variations, and no two sticks are alike. We cannot offer custom lengths or handle designs. These decorative walking sticks are sturdy, made from mature wood that is randomly cut from Blackthorn Trees which are a limited resource in Ireland. Our partners harvest the oldest limbs and season the wood before they sand and paint the precious Blackthorn into the unique configurations that result. Other, less costly sticks may not be true Blackthorn, or might not be seasoned or left to dry out for 6 months like the Biddy Murphy sticks. Younger wood results in sticks that are thinner and nubby, or thornier and more likely to crack or break as they dry out over time. ☘️

Not what we expected
Ordered my first Blackthorn walking stick from Biddy via Amazon. After some research I was anticipating a sturdy walking stick. What I received feels flimsy, cheap and not sturdy at all. After reading through a Blackthorn social media group I greatly question what wood I actually have.
Not what was expected
My first blackthorn walking stick and I am disappointed. This stick is light and flimsy . After meeting a friend and comparing his blackthorn to what ever mine is the difference is greatly noticeable. Last time and first time with this company.
Shillelagh
Beautifully crafted from a natural Blackthorn branch. Seems plenty sturdy to help on walks where my balance is not as centered as it once was. They have carefully removed the thorns so it is not dangerous to hold.
Amazing
When I received my shillelagh I was so excited. Recently found out that I had Irish and Scottish Heritage. So having this makes Me feel closer to my roots.
