Kirsten Fedorowicz studied abroad in Ireland from January- May 2017. She stayed in a small town in the beautiful region of Connemara. She now works as a Content Intern at Biddy Murphy, writing about Ireland as much as she can. When I decided to study abroad in Ireland, I wasn’t expecting the mountains. In January of 2017, as the bus rounded corner after corner of rocky Irish roads, my eyes were fixed on the skyline. Everywhere I looked there were mountains rising into the sky, their rocky bodies consuming every inch of ground. I had grown up in rural Michigan,...
Growing up in Ireland, St.Brigid’s Day was one of the best days in school! We’d spend about an hour outside, playing around in the field and picking rushes for our Brigid’s Cross (of course, the rushes would try to take the eyes out of us continuously)! We’d all head inside then to start crafting; folding rushes in half over and over again until we were left with the final product! My Mam still has these crosses displayed proudly on top of our kitchen dresser. Saint Brigid is one of the patron saints of Ireland. She is also the patron saint...

Visitors to Dingle can also go out on the bay and visit Dingle’s most famous resident - Fungie! Fungie the dolphin has been charming tourists for years and is always a great sight to see! The area is a really lovely...

June is great for what we call ‘Leaving Cert Weather’. The Leaving Cert is...
So you’re thinking about visiting Ireland? Good choice! I’ve drawn up a rough plan of a route you could take around the country - hitting all of my favourite spots along the way. For the sake of argument, I’ve made this a 10 day plan, of course, you can spend more time in some places than others but this should give you a rough idea! Remember, driving from Dublin (on the east coast) to Galway (on the west) takes only 2.5 hours so 10 days gives you a good amount of time to see all of the ‘must- see’s !...
